BURN Your Half Off – Chattanooga Half Marathon

Keep your running goals going through the summer, make some friends, have a great time!

As part of the lead up to the Raccoon Mountain Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay, Run Chattanooga hosted a free half marathon in January 2015 called FREEze Your Half Off. Over 100 runners participated in the inaugural event, braving the 17 degree weather! Almost 25% were first time half marathoners.

We had so much fun, we decided to do another one six months later. Enter BURN Your Half Off, a FREE half marathon, where the weather will be different, but the fun will be the same. In 2016, Burn was so popular, we split it into two days. We’re doing the same for 2017! Run Saturday or Sunday, or run both days!

The course is a double-out-and-back where you’ll pass the “aid station” more than once. You bring your own cup or water bottle (we’ll have water, Gatorade, and plenty of ice available), and energy gels or anything else you think you’ll need. We’ll count your laps and time it. And we’ll even provide the medals. (Although keep in mind, this is a low-key race…medals will be kitschy, not fancy!)

GPS Coordinates for the Fry Center on the Riverwalk are:
35.097580, -85.252631

Post-race food is potluck – bring something to share!

You are welcome to go the whole distance – there is no time limit, so walkers are welcome – or just run your prescribed training plan distance, bring some food for the potluck, ring a cowbell, give out high fives, and enjoy the camaraderie!

This is a no prizes, no pressure, no whining, no time limit event. If you want to run fast and treat this like a race – go for it! If you want to walk the whole thing – you can do that too!

Due to new costs imposed on us for this event, the fee for each race is $5. If you purchase a race shirt or other race-specific merchandise, the fee for the race is waived. If you volunteer for at least 4 hours at Run Amok in November or Raccoon Mountain in March, you run Burn Your Half Off for free.

Invite anyone you want! The more the merrier!

ONLY REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS will receive a finisher’s “medal”!
