Freedom Run

Memorial Day, May 30th, 9am
Fleet Feet Sports, 2 North Shore (307 Manufacturers Rd.)

Wear your red, white, and blue, and run or walk on the pre-determined but not pre-publicized 1 mile, 5K, or 5 mile course, high fiving and smiling at people along the way.

Roads will NOT be shut down for this event; this is a big festive group run, not a race. If you want to run your fastest, you are welcome to do so. This is a community-building fun run that costs you exactly zero dollars. We’ll provide drinks and watermelon and patriotic photo opportunities, you provide the spirit and the energy! We’ll also be handing everyone a miniature American flag just before the finish line so you can end in an appropriately patriotic way.

Shirts and tank tops with the event logo will be available for pre-purchase. Net proceeds from shirt sales and 100% of any cash donations will go to TAPS: Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, a non-profit that provides support to bereaved military families regardless of circumstance of death, relationship to the deceased, or geography. (In keeping with the meaning of Memorial Day, we chose a highly-rated charity that provides care for family members of deceased members of the Armed Forces, rather than a veterans-focused charity.)

Strollers, kids in little red wagons, cyclists, and headphones are all permitted. Parents, you are responsible for keeping your children safe at any road crossings. Costumes, patriotic gear, and red/white/blue attire are highly encouraged!

FYI: it is against U.S. Flag Code and flag etiquette to wear an American flag as a cape. You’re welcome – and encouraged – to carry a flag with you, either in your hands or on a pole, but please do not use it as clothing and please make sure it does not touch the ground.
